Solid week Feb. 22,2016

This week was BOMB!!

We did some long drawn out stake reports. That was painful because it
was a 5-7 hour process that kept us in our apartment, and deprived us
of any pros time. But that night we got out, and the Lord blessed us
with 2 families to teach. Super excited about that.

The spirit has drawn me to a story I would like to recite.

The foolish man built his house upon the sand, the rains came down and
the floods came up, and the house on the sand washed away.

The wise man built his house upon a Rock, the rains came down and he
floods came up, but the house on the rock stood still.

Yes, even a childhood primary song can help us understand that if you
build your life on the precepts of men, you will wash away, and in the
end have nothing to stand. Why then, do people after being washed away
begin to build again there house upon the sand? Is it the view of the
world? Is it pride? Is it the lack of faith that another way is not
possible?  The actions of Insanity are doing the same thing over and
over and expecting a different result each time. Thus, when we rebuild
our spiritual homes on fickle ideas of justification, instant
gratification, rebelliousness, pride, and all other things that
destroy our faith; we begin to see again- the rains of temptation, and
floods of peer pressure enter into our lives, and the home we built is
again washed away.

In Heleman 5 Nephi recounts what Heleman told his sons. "Behold, my
sons, I desire that ye should remember to keep the commandments of
God....Therefore, my sons, I would that ye should do that which is
good, that it may be said of you....that ye may do these things to lay
up for yourselves a treasure in heaven, yea, which is eternal, and
which fadeth not away; yea, that ye may have that precious gift of
eternal life, which we have reason to suppose hath been given to our
fathers....And now, my sons, remember, remember that it is upon the
rock of our Redeemer, who is Christ, the Son of God, that ye must
build your foundation; that when the devil shall send forth his mighty
winds, yea, his shafts in the whirlwind, yea, when all his hail and
his mighty storm shall beat upon you, it shall have no power over you
to drag you down to the gulf of misery and endless wo, because of the
rock upon which ye are built, which is a sure foundation, a foundation
whereon if men build they cannot fall".

The only way to build our spiritual stature is on the Doctrines of
Jesus Christ. The only way to break down insanity, the only way to
hold strong and be comfortable, the only way to be truly happy, is by
relying on the merits and mercy of the Lord. He is our strength. He
has known no sin, but has lived through temptation. He has felt every
pain, and still he sent his angels to minister to others. He gave
everything he could, so that we could have the chance of living life
eternal in the mansions of our Father.
